Introduction

Juni ("we," "us," or "our") is a language learning flashcard app designed for children ages 3–8. We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how parents can exercise their rights regarding their child's data.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

Parent Information (provided voluntarily):

• Parent's email address — used for account creation and authentication via one-time verification codes

Child Information (provided voluntarily):

• Child's first name — used only to personalize the app experience (e.g., "Welcome back, Maya!")

Learning Data (generated automatically):

• Flashcard progress — which categories and cards have been completed
• Selected languages, dialect preferences, and theme

We do NOT collect:

• Location data
• Photos, videos, or audio from the device
• Contact lists or address books
• Device identifiers for advertising
• Browsing history or behavioral data for advertising purposes

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect solely for:

• Providing the Juni learning experience
• Saving and syncing learning progress across devices
• Processing in-app purchase payments
• Sending account-related communications (e.g., login verification codes)

We do NOT use any information for behavioral advertising, selling or renting personal information to third parties, or building user profiles for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

Supabase (supabase.com)

• Purpose: User authentication and cloud data storage
• Data shared: Parent email, child first name, learning progress
• Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

RevenueCat (revenuecat.com)

• Purpose: In-app purchase management and payment processing
• Data shared: Anonymous app user ID, purchase transactions
• Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

We do NOT use any advertising networks, analytics trackers, or social media SDKs.

Data Storage and Security

Learning progress and preferences are stored locally on your device so the app works offline. When a parent is signed in, the same data is synced to our cloud database (hosted by Supabase) so progress carries across devices on the same account.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Parental Rights Under COPPA

Parents have the right to:

• Review their child's personal information by contacting us at s.pushpesh@gmail.com
• Request deletion of their child's personal information
• Refuse further collection of their child's information
• Request that their child's information not be shared with third parties

To exercise any of these rights, please email s.pushpesh@gmail.com with the subject line "COPPA Request" and include the email address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account data for as long as the account is active. Parents may delete their account directly within the app by going to Settings → Delete Account. This will immediately and permanently delete the account profile, child name, and all learning progress from our servers.

Alternatively, parents may request deletion by emailing s.pushpesh@gmail.com. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will delete the account and all associated data from our servers within 30 days.

Locally stored data on the device can be removed by uninstalling the app.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify parents via the email address associated with their account. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.

COPPA Compliance Statement

Juni complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Account creation requires a parent or legal guardian's email address. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
